OMG, We Did It!

We Did It!

We Did It!

Greetings! Welcome to the first ever post from The L Stop! So I’m sure some of you have questions like why am I here and what is this about…

What is The L Stop?

The L Stop came about as an answer to a fundamental question; a solution to a problem that we believe happens all across the US and even the world. Where the hell are the lesbians? Yes. Where the hell are they? Well friends, we’re here to tell you where they are. Our goal is to give the lesbian, bi, trans and queer womens communities a place to find and gather information. Chicago is a big gay city, you just have to know where to look. If you don’t know where to look, then that’s where we come in. TLS (yep, that’s our acronym) will tirelessly gather the biggest LBTQ events in the city into one place, our Events page. The Events are gathered all through Chicago and suburbs so that if there’s an event going on near you, you will know about it. We will even email the events to you. Whether new to the city or born and raised here in Chicago you will find something here for you.

TLS is also here to make your busy life easier. Remember when Ellen made fun of social media? Well, it’s kinda like that now. We’re looking at you, news junkie. The bottom half of The L Stop’s home page has “The Feed”, where you can find all the latest headlines in news, gossip, and video all for your homo pleasure and all in ONE PLACE.

Lastly but not least, we have put together a bad-ass team of local bloggers ready to cover all the queer goodness that our city has to offer and tons and tons and tons more. Non-Chicagoans, please don’t feel left out, we will have plenty of juicy reads from peeps in Chicago to LA to your closet in [insert small town here]. Please meet our Team!

Why The L Stop?

If you live in Chicago, then shame on you for asking such a question. If you don’t, our train is called “the el” because it’s an elevated train. So not only is it about Chicago, but it’s also a play on the most the groundbreaking lesbian TV show of all time, The L Word. Hence, The L Stop. Ta da!

We had help

The L Stop Award

We won second place at Launch DePaul

About a year ago, we entered a contest that would change the course of things to come for TLS. We entered The L Stop into a new venture competition held annually at DePaul University, called Launch DePaul. Out of 53 teams that entered, we ended up in second place! (We were freaking out, too.) Being a part of this contest helped us shape what The L Stop is today and we are very, very grateful to them. Who beat us, you ask? A help center for mentally disable kids, we would’ve given them our award anyway. Geez.

What we’ve done

Flyers, campaigning, flyers, beer

Flyers, campaigning, flyers, beer

Since DePaul’s contest we’ve campaigned here in Chicago at festivals and dozens ofย  LBTQ related events.ย  You can like us on Facebook and follow our Twitter. We also have our popular email newsletter that collects all the local Chicagoland LBTQ events delivered fresh to your inbox on the 1st and 15th of every month. If you haven’t signed up yet, what are ya waitin for?

Thanks again for visiting our site, and we are looking forward to keeping you up to date with everything going on in our amazing community!
