If you DO run into her, make sure you ask her to tell you a pirate joke.
Kathy I'm 28, and a figure skating coach and I love, love, love my job! I’ve been skating since I was 3 and coaching for 10 years. I find it wonderfully fulfilling when I’m not only helping further my skaters physically, but teaching them life skills as well. I'm pretty femmy. I love wearing heels and dresses, but I'm definitely down for some hoodies and jeans and gettin dirty! ….as long as I'm not wearing the dress and heels at the time. haha. I'm very friendly, loving, and caring. Extremely forgiving and trust easily. I'm extremely loyal to those I consider good friends. I worry about and over analyze everything. I'm a Pollyanna! I see the best in people, and without thinking give them the benefit of the doubt, and I like that about myself. I've worked very hard to not become jaded and cynical, and it’s great when someone appreciates and respects that about me.
I'm a complete nerd. I value good grammar, in depth conversations about politics and religion, and while I’m not afraid to wax poetic about my beliefs, I’m always willing to hear and consider opposing views. Smart chicks are HOT! ;) Intelligence goes MUCH farther with me than looks do, as I’ve found it's much harder to come by. And my secret inner bitch judges people that watch Jersey Shore. But I own up to the fact that I own all the seasons of The Hills (the ones with LC). Humor is always a panty dropper! But it needs to be witty, along with silly stupidness that forces me into a laughing fit for 10 min. I looooove to laugh. :) I also LOVE reading.. My Sony Reader is the best Xmas present I've ever gotten and am hoping to read 50 books in 2012. (I’m a little behind schedule.)
I'm generally, but not always, attracted to tomboyish girls; not necessarily "butch", but more boyish than I am. What can I say? I like having the door held for me, my chair pulled out at dinner, occasional flowers.. the whole shebang; I (without meaning to! And against the feminist inside!) play pretty easily into gender roles. I am a hopeless romantic, and will swoon, without fail, to the smallest of gestures. Indeed, it’s the small gestures that make relationships worth it.
Mel Melissa prefers to go by Mel, which she claims as the lesbian version of her name. Mel works at DS Tequila as a manager, accountant, and bartender. She has a Masters in Accounting and Finance. She always sees the same girls out and about since she works at one of the biggest lesbian hangouts in town, so she thought It might be nice to branch out a little. She's a fun person and if she's in a boring environment, well, it won't be that way for long! She loves making the ladies smile and laugh. She says nothing makes her happier. She'd like to think that she's quite the gentlemen as she caters to women in any way possible. She also loves to cook and bake. She says she's basically the gay Martha Stewart. Mel has also played the piano and drums since she was seven years old and she loves being surrounded by music. She is also interested in nutrition and exercise, and she prefers to talk to women with similar interests so that she doesn't stray from her personal goals. She's says she's 5'4 with Bieber-brown hair and brown eyes. Just look at her picture.
Lisa is one half of the mastermind behind the brilliant and innovative website that you are reading right now. She co-founded The L Stop which has been up and running for about a year and a half. She is passionate about growing her business and enjoys being able to share all the good news that Chicago's vibrant LGBTQ community has to offer. She is also a member of the LGBTQ advisory council for the Cook County Attorney Generals office, and makes a damned good morning coffee. She is a sweet and intelligent woman; she dances but doesn't over power, she laughs but doesn't snort. Lisa has that calm, quiet Mex-Tex charm (and more than a few plaid shirts) that she brought with her to Chicago and never lost touch of who she is or where she comes from.
Casey just graduated from DePaul university with a creative writing degree. She work from home for a marketing company so her schedule is very flexible.
When she's not working, she often fills her evenings doing standup comedy. She make a lot of really really dorky jokes, and not always at good times, so wit and a great sense of humor is always a must. If a certain lady also had a beautiful laugh, that's a huge plus.
Casey loves dancing and cooking. And while both activities are fun to do solo, the true joy comes from sharing these passions with a partner. Casey seriously believes that one of the sexiest things in the world is dipping a beautiful girl on the dance floor. That, and making her breakfast the next morning. She enjoys taking girls out for dinner and dancing, but a girl who can have just as much fun with a night of home cooking, scrabble and a movie, that girl is one she wants to woo. Flexibility and enthusiasm are important too.
Deb Do I think I am the most eligible queer bachelorette? I would like to think I am. I see myself as a very successful, romantic
and caring lesbian. I have been out since college and have been working on my film career. I came to Chicago and got a
degree in web design, and worked with my family until I took a leap of faith and moved to NY, (followed by a move right
back home to Chicago). I joined the bowling team during the Gay Games and was honored to attend both the opening and
closing parties. When The Center on Halsted opened, I was one of the early participants of most of their women’s events;
even leading a monthly film series called Women’s Movie Night.
Soon after that I started the Single Lesbians in the City meet up group which is still growing strong and more women are
joining every month. I also volunteered with Equality Illinois and went to Springfield twice to help pass the Civil Union Bill.
After that I joined the Lesbian Leadership Council and continue to attend events for HRC, LCCP, Equality Illinois, and The L
So do all of these things make me the most eligible queer bachelorette? You decide.
A local DJ, musician and Audio engineer. Studied Film & Video Sound at Columbia College Chicago. Loves hockey, history (particularly Chicago history) and possesses a strange ability for remembering random, and often useless facts.
Veronica, 23, is the one queer Latina that you need to know. She is one sexy, sassy nerd that doesn't let anything stop her, not even her physical disability nor wheelchair. She is a public health professional who works hard in advocating for social change in the LGBTQ community and others. When she's not working, you can find her dancing in the street, in living room, or anywhere the dance bug hits her. Fun fact? Her first tattoo (on her breast) is a tribute to an alter ego: a tiger.
Jenna Jenna is 26. She is a farm girl at heart, and she moved to the city only 3 years ago. She boasts that she can drive tractors and can teach a woman how to slap some leather (We're talking about line-dancing steps--of course you knew that). She's currently studying software engineering at UIC, and she likes math. She admits that she's a pretty big geek. She's only ever really been in one serious relationship that lasted 3 years from 2006-2009. Other than that, she's been been single. She says she's always been clueless on how dating works, and she supposes that she's just really traditional. She says she's looking for that perfect someone. Then again, who isn't?
Emily grew up in Southern California, came to Chicago for college, fell in love with the city, and has been here ever since. She works in the loop as a consultant in the healthcare industry and is avidly involved in volunteer work for multiple charities through work and in her personal time. Emily can also be considered yoga-obsessed and spends what little free time she has on the mat. She also plays and captains teams for CMSA softball, flag football, dodgeball, and occasionally soccer. When not leading a sporty life, Emily loves seeing live music, reading, and enjoying a good craft brew with friends.
