Are you looking for Chicago style pizza? Look no further. Food Network voted Pequods the best Pizza in Illinois, and I agree.

As you come up to Pequods and see a whale decorating the awning – you stop and try to figure out what the deal is. After fighting to get to the host stand you are greeted with a chipper, “It may be a 45 minute wait.” (Luckily you’re getting your information from a pro here) – because the average Jane would walk out starving and frustrated not even going to consider waiting 45 minutes for a pizza. Do you honestly think I’d leave you hanging ladies? – Not a chance. You can actually pre order your pizza right at the host stand. That way when you get seated you don’t have to wait another 45 minutes for pizza. (You’re welcome.)

The pizza I suggest is the caramelized crust pan pizza. Crispy crust with caramelized cheese, I’m salivating thinking about it. All the toppings you can possibly imagine. When you first receive the pizza in the industrial black steaming hot pan you’ll think, “THEY BURNED MY PIZZA!” But people all over the state come in to eat that caramelized crust. Two slices leave me in a food coma. This is the one for me; this is the pizza that all other pizzas must live up to. No matter how hard I try to open my heart to new pizza – it always comes back to Pequods.

You’ll notice the owner is a huge Hawks fan and there are plenty of Pequods t shirts, hats, tank tops, and thongs to purchase. Yes Thongs. Which I believe is where the whale logo came from. (Whale Tail lol). I suggest coming in Mon-Weds to be seated promptly and avoid crowds. The beer selection is average and they do provide a full bar. They play radio music no DJ and the ambiance is divey so dress casual and get ready to have the best pizza ever.

About Nina

Nina is a Chicago native, of Puerto Rican decent. Four years ago she co founded Doll House, which is a weekly Lesbian night in Chicago. Nina is now running Doll House with a team of twelve people, and swears it’s been the best four years of her life. After 18 years of arroz con gandules, Nina decided to take on the city to see what the neighborhoods have to offer. Some people eat to live, and although she hates to admit it, she lives to eat. Spoiling herself with one, two…OK maybe four or five nights out a week. When Nina is not indulging in Chicago eats, you can find her with a colorbrush in her hand in a high end salon making Chicago more beautiful every day.
