She was your favorite bartender on girl nights at The Closet, Circuit, and, most recently, Parlour. Now, she’s your favorite hairstylist at Milios Hair Studio (959 W. Belmont Ave). Jamie “Jade” DiGrazia grew up in the south suburbs and moved to the city as soon as she turned 20. She moved to Lakeview and began bartending at all the favorite girl nightspots. But, bartending wasn’t the only thing she was good at.
When Jade graduated from high school she immediately went to beauty school in Oak Forest. I knew since I was a little kid I wanted to do hair, just like my favorite Aunt Kerry did. She’s taken countless hours of continuing education over the last 10 years. And, she has most recently attended The Redken Exchange, an advanced academy in NYC, to expand her vision and learn the latest techniques and trends by the best in the industry.
After quite some time of making many of your favorite cocktails, Jade decided to get serious with her dream of becoming a hairstylist. In February of 2009 Jade began the assistant education program at Milios Hair Studio, and has been full-time since May 2011. She loves working at Milios because of the laid back atmosphere. There are so many pretentious salons out there that I just wouldn’t fit in. My coworkers are a wonderful bunch of incredibly talented people whom I have become very close with. This is why she loves working at Milios, and a similar reason as to why their clients love it there too, besides the fact that the hairstylists at Milios do an awesome job.
Jade loves working with all kinds of hair. She specializes in and is most thrilled about doing creative cuts and color techniques. I enjoy doing a thorough consultation with my guest, and then being able to create a design suitable for them. I love creating the look you’re going for whether it be a simple, flattering design or a seriously fierce edgy style. She loves consulting with her guests, where she gets to know them better as well as their hair goals. She also enjoys customizing hair plans and teaching her guests about at-home care and styling tips to get the look they want. I love to see guests smiling at themselves in the mirror, a simple sign that she has styled their hair exactly how they envisioned.
In the future, Jade plans on returning to NYC to audition to become a REDKEN artist, and a REDKEN Certified Colorist in 2012. She plans to work with and influence other stylists in the industry.

Growing up Erica knew she’d be one of two things: 1. A lesbian 2. A writer. Lucky for her, she turned out to be both! After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Creative Writing, she moved back to the Midwest. In Chicago she found a community, a home, and her wonderful wife. Besides writing for The L Stop, Erica spends her time script writing. She hopes to, one day, write and produce good quality films and plays. If you ever see Erica around, feel free to say hi. She loves meeting new faces.
