One of my guilty pleasures is RueLaLa.com. If you haven’t ever heard of it and you tend to be an impulse shopper like me, you will now love me, or possibly hate me, for letting you know about this great website. Rue La La is an invitation-only website featuring a few select boutiques each day, where you can find some of the most sought-after brands in fashion, accessories, footwear, home, travel, wine, gourmet food, local services, and more at greatly reduced prices. Each boutique is open briefly, sometimes for just a few hours, sometimes a few days.
I’ve been a member of Rue La La for a year or so now, mostly perusing the boutiques and local deals while I’m on boring conference calls at work. This past Monday, I happened to get into work a little earlier than usual, so I signed on to see what I missed from the weekend and discovered something amazing! Unbeknownst to me, every Sunday night, Rue La La features a “Sunday Night Styleathon,” where they feature a few select items from dozens of boutiques until early Monday morning. To make things even better than discovering a multitude of new boutiques, was to realize that they also feature several wedding dress designers with beautiful and popular styles at deep discounts!
The boutiques change every week, so they may not feature wedding designers every week, but after doing a little research, it seems that dress designers are featured pretty regularly and are usually at least 50% off. Even if you already have your dress and just need to find accessories, many of Rue La La’s boutiques feature wedding/bridal-related, such as jewelry, veils, shoes, etc. Or, if you’re not the dress-wearing type, many boutiques have designer suits, ties, and accessories from Calvin Klein, Jhane Barnes, J. Crew, Cartier, Kenneth Cole, Jacques Lemans, etc. Also, don’t forget to check out Rue La La’s Travel section which features unique trips and excursions that could make for an awesome honeymoon!
Now I know that some of you may be skeptical of buying a dress or suit online without first having tried it on, but thankfully almost all of Rue La La’s boutiques allow returns on items for up to 30 days. So if you try it on and hate it, or simply change your mind, you can always return it with the pre-paid UPS label. With less than a year until my wedding date, every moment counts, so I love anything that allows me to cross something off my huge Wedding To-Do list, while saving me time and money on a killer designer dress or accessory!
Rue La La is by invitation-only, but The L Stop and the Say Yes to the Lez blog is inviting any and all interested readers to sign up at www.ruelala.com/invite/sayyestothelez. Membership is free and you can even earn credits by inviting additional friends to join and shop! I mean seriously, who doesn’t love free money on top of already great savings?!
